A holiday resort in the beautiful Brabantse Kempen is expanding its park. A large pond complex winds through this new area and will be the main eye‑catcher.
The contractor completed the ground works, and once the shape of the pond was set out, it was time for NPI to step in. Through our valued partner Joosten Groep, we were given the assignment to install no less than 19,000 m² of pond liner for this impressive project.
How we approached the project
We received a clear drawing from the contractor, which we always remeasure according to our protocol. After this precise measurement, we could create the installation plan and the production plan for the liners. The pond was divided into four sections, which also formed the different installation phases.
Our technical engineer translated these phases into detailed liner layouts: how many sheets were needed per phase and what their exact dimensions had to be. After approval, our welding team in the production hall could start prefabricating the liner sheets.
On-site
On-site, our welding team instructed the contractor’s crew on how to correctly unroll the liner sheets in the different pond sections. While the crane operator and his team carried this out, our colleagues welded the panels together to create one fully watertight liner. We also installed all required outlets.
After each phase, the contractor applied a layer of sand on top of the liner. This ensures the liner is neatly covered, well protected and creates a pond with a beautiful, natural look!
An interesting fact: this project marks one of the largest ponds ever in NPI’s history!
