Give new trees the best possible start
As many young trees are about to be planted, this is the perfect moment to give them the best possible start. With the right support, their chances of establishing well and growing healthily is increased. That is why we have listed the most important supplies for this planting season.
Watering edges
Tree watering rings ensure that water seeps slowly and directly into the root zone, instead of running off. This is especially important because young trees are vulnerable in their first years. Read here how watering rings work and how to install them.
New this season!
Our watering rings are made of HDPE in 1.5 and 2.0 mm thickness, in black. They are supplied in a width of 0.30 m and roll lengths of 50 and 25 meters. Starting this season, we also offer watering rings in 3.0 mm HDPE, in green. This version is also available on rolls of 25.00 x 0.30 m.

Root barrier
For newly planted trees, it is not always necessary to install a root barrier immediately. However, it is advisable to place one if tree roots are expected to cause damage later to buildings, cables, pipes, sewers or other infrastructure. The HDPE root barrier guides roots downwards to deeper soil layers.
Whether or not to install a root barrier right away mainly depends on the tree’s location and species. In urban areas and with species that have aggressive or shallow root systems, it is best to place a barrier directly when planting. As the ground is already open during planting, installing the barrier right away saves labour time and costs. Read more here about our HDPE root barriers and how they work.
Tree ties
Newly planted trees are fixed with tree ties to wooden stakes. Young trees do not yet have a strong root system and can therefore easily tilt or fall over. By temporarily securing the tree with a tie, it remains stable during root establishment. This prevents root damage and ensures the tree grows straight. Once the roots are well developed, the tie can be removed and the tree will stand firmly on its own. Read more here about our tree ties.

Tree guards
Tree guards are important for newly planted trees because young trunks are vulnerable to damage. They discourage animals from gnawing on the stem, keeping the stem intact so the tree can grow undisturbed. In addition, tree guards improve survival rates and support healthy, straight stem development.
