From green waste to compost
Groba in Leeuwarden processes green waste into compost for companies and governments. The end product is high-quality, clean compost and soil improvers, garden soil and topsoil. Strict environmental requirements apply to the composting process. To meet these standards, they requested an HDPE sealing layer to protect the soil.
HDPE KIWA 2.0 mm
The surface of composting site was excavated about one meter deep, and NPI installed HDPE liner in the pit. Our team placed the liner in position using a crane and spreader bar. HDPE 2.0 mm is our heaviest liner, and machine power is absolutely unmissable to get the film at the right location. Our welding experts then welded the HDPE panels together on site, under KIWA certification. Environmental regulations require that no substances may leak into the soil, so the sealing layer must be absolutely watertight.
Moisture balance in composting
On top of the liner, sand and drainage are applied. Composting only occurs under the right conditions, with the correct moisture balance being crucial. The drainage system can supply or remove water, ensuring the proper moisture level is always maintained. Once the green waste has turned into compost, it is moved elsewhere.
Circular process
Groba uses modern screening machines and equipment to produce every grade of compost, garden soil, topsoil or cultivation soil. We are proud that our 2.0 mm HDPE KIWA liner plays a role in the safe composting of green waste, helping us contribute to this circular process. What the earth brings forth, is returned to the earth!
